Hey everyone its good to be back on. After 6 months training we finished the hike in comfort and good time. Actually for me it was easy. I owe it to my SUL gear.

So with all the hoopla about "Super Ultralight" or SUL, having a base pack weight of under 5 pounds. Mine was 3 pounds 15 oz.

This is what worked for me. Two of my partners were going ultralight with 17lbs and 15 lbs of gear.

Here is my gear list.

Gossamer Gear pack-4 oz.
Gossamer Gear torso pad 4 oz.
Mountain Laural superlight bivy-6 oz.
Integral Designs Poncho Tarp-8 oz.
Platty 2L. Hose-3.5 oz.
Press to pure water filter-5 oz.
Ditty bag with firestarter-first aid tent stakes and guy lines-6 oz.
Clothes
Mountain Hardware fleece-8 oz.
Nylon dress socks 1 pr.-1 oz.
Polyprop. gloves-1 oz.
Golite Wind Breaker-3 oz.
Gram Weenie Fleece Beenie (my brand not for sale yet)-1 oz.
Gram Weenie Quilt 40*-11 oz.

BTD,

Good Pics of the gear. Where are the pics of the hike & the trip report? You must share a few of the best.

What was your pack weight w/ food & H2O?

7 pounds with everything and there was plenty of water along the trail.

I am sorting the pics now.

Bear, Thanks for the photos. Great shots! I didn't see a bear container. What did you use and how much weight?

I was not the guy who carried the bear can. Marmots are the biggest problem out there. Food was simple. Cheddar, beef sticks, rice crispy treats, trail mix pop tarts. Protein, carbs and energy.

Press to pure is something I have used for over a year and all over. Works perfect. I always take it on day hikes too.

Wow, I didn't know it was possible to go that light! I lugged 44lbs up that mountain. I thought about not using that scale at the trailhead because I just didn't want to know, lol.

So did you get cold at night? Where did you camp? Did the tarp do well with the winds?

I'm looking forward to the rest of the photos.

Thanks.

Yes the tarp was fine when it rained and the place I chose naturally broke the wind.

I was warm with a tarp-bivy-quilt combo. People in tents and sleeping bags said they were cold at night.
