I wanted to take the time to thank Frolicking Dinosaurs (http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/member.php?u=6083) for submitting our latest article to add to our online articles. If you have not had time check out the Nutrition Chart (http://www.whiteblaze.net/index.php?page=nutrition).

WOW, what a great chart. I combine alot of these items for some rather filling Canadian canoeing meals but since I was gathering the materials (foods) from so many groups, I didn't have an easy way to add all of the info to know just exactly what I was serving. Comparing the meals to what we eat backpacking just never worked because of the volume difference and also the variety of items used.
THANKS FD.

Good chart, but it would be more useful for backpackers if there was a column for calories/ounce.

Good chart, but it would be more useful for backpackers if there was a column for calories/ounce.I will see what I can do when it is updated. Doing this was a huge undertaking and the he-dino was threatening to bite off all of my toes and part of my tail because I spent so much time on it.

Please feel free to suggest things that would help hikers plan meals and tell me about any foods I missed. Several people have contacted me via PM already.

Hello

Thank you so much for taking the time to compile this wonderful list. It is great. As aspiring thru hikers and dedicated section hikers it can at times be a daunting task to put together a good variety in the food bag with some assurance it is healthy and provides energy. Your work and willingness to share the compiled information has made this task a lot simpler. Again thank you so much.
