I'm trying to figure out a way to use a titanium foil wind screen like a caldera cone, using a kmart grease pot as the pot, and the strainer of the grease pot as the bottom holder, it's got an outward rolled rim as well. What I'm wanting to do though is get the whole wind screen to fit inside the grease pot durring transport. I was thinking of splitting it, then connecting the top and bottom like the littlebug, with a tab that has a rivet which snaps into a hole. I'd put 3 tabs on the top half of the windscreen, then set one atop the other, snaping it into the bottom half. Another question about it is exhaust for the fire, if I go wood burning, I think that it would be best if I placed the exhaust holes slightly below where the bottom of the pot is going to be, creating kind of a cup to capture the heat. Being a cylinder I imagine there's not going to be enough space further up to place the holes toward the very top of the support screen.

Any ideas, suggestions?

Not sure what i would do about the sections of your cone. I do feel that placing the holes somewhat below the rim and forming that "cup" to trap heat will in fact, direct the energy flow away from your pot. If you plan on placing the pot directly on the rim, chop out as much of the rim as you can... Also a thought, why break your cone into sections? Fitting it into the grease pot is a fine idea but seems to create more technical difficulties than I would want to deal with (structural integrity comes to mind). I would just pack it into your food bag, giving it a double wall of sorts while on the trail.

Make it square(pyramidal). It could be folded up and the corners would act as heat vent holes on top.
