Woodsy,
He's certainly a beauty. I would deffinately have to agree on the assessment of breed.
We have what at one point thought was Australian Shephard/Pit mix, but luckily, turns out that they are Australian Shephard/Catahoula. Excellent mix for a field dog.

This is Neicko, he only did about 100 miles with us and then enjoyed the couch at my parents house :)
Thought you guys might like this e-mail I sent to Lupine after watching her dog Neicko while they thru hiked.
I miss Neicko because:
I miss picking all the fur off my clean socks before I put my shoes on just in case I have to go to the hospital
I miss sitting on a wet toilet seat in the middle of the night because he has drunk from it
I miss being woke up by a wet tongue on my face (and it is not Steph)
I miss not having to clean the food items off all the counters before you go out or bed because if anything is left on them, it won't be left.
I miss not being able to sleep in any part of the bed I choose because he beat me to it.
I miss driving down the road in my truck with the window open, with both hands on the wheel while trying to spit the fur out of my mouth.
I miss thinking I have picked up all his poop only to find that it is strung out 10 feet.
I miss wondering if I spilt water on the floor or if the roof was leaking, only to find out it was his drool.
I miss coming home late at night and finding he has dragged a package of egg noodles (the small thin kind) from the pantry and spread them all over the floor I vacuumed only a few hours before.
I miss playing catch with him and watching him run after the ball and keep on running and running.
I miss taking him for a walk and diverting into the meadow so if he poops it wont be on the road only to have him pre-occupied, forget what he is there for and then take a huge dump right in front of Buehler's
I miss it taking 5 min just to get a collar and leash on to go for a walk because he won't stand still
I miss closing a door, any door and watching the fur balls fly across the floor.
I miss curling up in a nice what was once a clean blanket because he slept on it first.
I miss having to yell at him - no balls in the house - no running in the house - no psycho dog in the house - no peeing on the flowers (gave up on that one) - get out of the panty ( have to keep the door closed cause he will take stuff)
I miss having to fight for my share of the couch in the morning
I miss turning around and tripping over him as you're getting ready to leave because he does not want to be left behind
I miss coming home for lunch and go to make a sandwich only to find out that he has dragged the brand new loaf of bread into the hearth room - but he could not open it, so now I had to figure out how to get the bread out of the bag and keep it clean because of all the slime and drool on the outside - it is not easy to open the bag with only one hand so you don't contaminate the other hand.
I miss his barking, whining, whimpering, yipping because: he wants to go out, he wants to come in, he wants to eat, wants a drink, he has to see you in the bathroom, in the garage, in the basement.
I miss him thinking my truck is the coolest dog house ever, but it stops him from running off.
COME TO THINK OF IT, I DON'T THINK I MISS NEICKO AT ALL BECAUSE MY DOG IS PERFECT.

Here is a shot of Fortis (pack on). I said goodbye to him in January of 2011 before starting my hike. He was a 150lb Cane Corso and my loyal friend for 11 years. The second picture is of Willow. She is my new pup and will hopefully (if her training continues to progress as it has been) be hiking with me during my 2013 thru hike attempt. She is a Plott hound Pit Mix....I think :)
