Some difficult choices - what a pleasure! I went with North Carolina, with Tennessee (a classic Smokies shot) a close second.
In the dream world where printing costs and material waste wouldn't be a factor, we could have a different beautiful name tag for each day of Ruck.
Those are some incredible pictures. But then, it's a pretty cool trail, huh? Can't wait to see you all at Ruck and hike a bit of the trail with such great people. :sun

This is always such fun Sly, thanks for sifting through the photos for ones to highlight. The photos are one of my favorite parts of White Blaze.
At a glance, I'd say this is a pretty creative bunch, with nature-lovin' souls.
That Virginia shot is awesome, and I went with Tennessee - it will look great on my nametag. :D
All great pics, but I have a preference for my home state of Massachusetts. Probably won't win, but it would make a great nametag background as well as a great 3' x 5' poster. Hear that Cosmo, you might want to think about it.

Just so everyone know, I'll be making a limited number of calenders (actually Dixicritter has volunteered to do this, thanks Dixi) to raffle at the Southern Ruck with procedes to be split evenly between the ATC, and ALDHA.
Plus, everyone of the photographers will also receive a free calender for their participation. Proper credit will be assigned to each photo.

YEAH BOY! Go Tennessee, GO! Thankfully, the pic is pretty phenomenal, but I think I would have been morally obligated to vote for Tennessee no matter what.
Since this is a nametag for the SOUTHERN Ruck, I could not, in good conscience, have voted for any state north of Virginia.
They are all phenomenally good photos, but Tennessee takes it by a nose.

Well if this was the New England Ruck, I still would have voted - as I did - for North Carolina which coincidentally is your home state.

I don't like live auctions, they can be fun but, take too much time. What we'll be having is a type of raffle similar to a Tombola, a slilent auction/raffle where you buy tickets, as an example 5 for $5 and place one or all of your tickets in a basket to win a certain item. Later in the day we'll pick the winners for each basket.
I'm going to bring a few things I have hanging around to donate like an unused ATC hunter orange pack cover, a whiperlite stove, maybe some books...

Why a raffle? Why not just give the appropriate winners calendars as prizes and sell the rest at a fixed price? Maybe I skipped over something, but a 13 month calendar would certainly have a value at someplace like Barnes and Nobles so selling them doesn't seem out of line.

Mostly because we're only making a limited number. Also, it would be too hard to set a price. By raffling them off they'll be more valuable without anyone having to spend a lot of money. And it was a idea to include all the photographers while helping the existing raffle. It's a work in progress but not set in stone.
People can always make their own calendars with whatever photo they choose.

The Tennessee shot looks suspiciously like the 2005 nametags. If theyre being formatted the same (as background photos), then my vote is for Maine. Itll take text the best, and is gorgeous to boot.

Really? I don't remember the 2005 name tags. If I'm not mistaken I didn't start the contest until last year. :o Plus it doesn't really matter which one is chosen, I can adjust the text and name to fit.
PS. I see where I made them for the 2006 SoRuck, but can't recall how I picked it or which photo I used. So you may be right.
