I am thankful to just be here and be able to answer this question..A couple of years ago I suffered what is commonly called a "massive heart attack"...I was clinically "dead" for several minutes..My heart stopped, my breathing stopped..Luckily I live within a couple of minutes of a fire station and the paramedics arrived in time to restart my heart with a defibulator (Thankfully I didn`t brain my damage)..I am happy to be among the only 5-7% of people who survive such a heart attack and am happy to share my love of the AT with all you fine people!..Happy Thanksgiving to all !!!!
I am thankful for my Wife and Family. I am thankful for the rains we are receiving. I am thankful for the time I have on this Earth, and more than I can list here.
I'm thankful for my good health, wonderful friends, and beautiful mountains.
I'm thankful that I am aware enough to be thankful. It doesn't mean much if a person never realizes how great this whole trip is.

Thankful to be alive and as well as I am. Thankful for my family. Trying to work up to be thankful that Granny Dino is celebrating on the golden trail this year - I'm sure that must be quite a celebration, but I would be more thankful if she was here.
Thankful for all of you - even the rowdy ones whose toes I bite regularly - for without you the community just wouldn't be complete.

Health, Family, and this beautiful fall weather !!
And Dino's Gallery, I was sitting here putzing, looking at their photos, it's amazing how you get a mental image of how someone looks, then see a picture and think "NO WAY would I have picked that person out of a line up, based on trail name"

Friends, family, our pets, and good health. Those are at the top of the list. I'm also thankful that we received almost 2" of desperately needed rain last night.

I am thankful to have known TS even with the ugliness that passed between us for without him I would not have been turned on to the beauty and wonder of the trail. And if he should read this, I want him to know how very sorry I am for the words that I said.

I'm thankful for the pilgrims (http://www.history.com/minisite.do?content_type=Minisite_Generic&content_type_id=872&display_order=1&mini_id=1083)who started this tradition among many other things.
We all know that we don't have enough holidays in this country. More holidays = more hiking.

No, I think it makes you well rounded!!:D
I am thankful for the rain we are getting today in Western NC. It's not much, but it's definitely better than the nothings we've been getting. I am VERY thankful for my husband, daughter, and our health. Have a Great one everybody!!!
I am thankful that I live in a country that has no bounderies but at the same time there are many man made bounderies. I am especially thankful for my nephews who are a part of the Armed Forces in Iraq and who are doing their jobs so that I can have some extras here in the United States like gasoline. But that's another story.......
I've been giving it some thought since last night, about being thankful and grateful and what or who am I thankful for in my life right here and right now?
I'm thankful for the best friends I think I have ever had right here in Damascus. Like Richard Smith, he is one of the best. Jeff Patrick and his wife Jeanie who have been there for me in countless ways too numerous to mention. John and Kelly Dancer, who still pick me up weekly and take me to the flea market so that I am able to make a living, they also come and take me home. David Matlock, who just happens to be one of the best story tellers around these here parts and who in my books is the most exceptional person around here. He is wise beyond his age and he's an old fart. If you ever come to this town, meet David Matlock. Russell Dean and his entire clan will stand with you in the face of adversity, he has me. My buddies Jack Able and Michael Wright who stepped up to the ball plate with me and helped me get my business started when others just pointed their fingers and said I would fail. Only quitters fail, and I ain't no quitter and it won't be over with until they burn me and scatter my ashes in the wind. I am thankful for Archie Baldwin, another one that has been there aiding me where I needed to go this past summer while I sat up on the sides of highways and byways selling these darn rubber shoes. I am thankful for Lone Wolf and Gypsy, who when I came to this town fresh out of the hospital along with Local were there to lift me up back on my feet. And lastly I am thankful for living here in Damascus, I have been in alot of places but this little quaint village nestled in the Appalachias is the icing on the cake.
I am also thankful for Dino and the words she spoke to me at the southern ruck last year.
And Matty, man do I love Matty. What a piece of work.
I am thankful and grateful through the grace of God to have lived as long as I have in the last two years. Perhaps there will be another two years?

I'm thankful for the rain, the fact I've got a bunch of half baked friends to mess with today and that I've got the time to cook a small dinner for my mother and myself.
Life is good.
i'm thankful for TV. the Macys parade. i'm SO enjoying the show tunes. does it make me gay?
No, but I think your trail name just changed to Tommy Tune. ;)
Happy Thanksgiving to you & Gypsy.
I am thankful my family is safe, healthy, and home with me today. I am thankful for all my friends who make living a joy, and especially those friends who have helped me over the years. I am thankful I have the means to provide for my family and want for very little. And I am thankful to live in this great country and call myself an American.
I am so grateful for all the people I've met on this site, and all those I just know from posting. I am grateful for my crazy, cantankerous, and oftentimes wrong but good as gold Wolf:p, and especially for our military brothers and sisters. I know they're missing home and family. Life is so short... let's try and be a bit more loving toward each other all year long. God knows I'm trying.... I love you all!:sun

I'm thankful for my ex-wife who saved me from a life of wealth and excessive consumption of material goods.:D
* a gracious God who continues to put up with my foolishness
* my parents; my dad is not looking well, and isn't full of piss and vinegar like in the past. I enjoyed spending the day with him yesterday. My mom, who can still throw down a Thanksgiving dinner;
* my wife, who after 24 years of marriage, is my lover, friend, supporter, mother of my children, - and judge! (She certainly does her part to keep me in line!)
* my oldest son, who's doing well after living in Germany for a year after high school. He's our "strong-willed" child, and the one I've had the rockiest relationship with. At mid-term, he had a 4.0 in his freshman year of Engineering. When he got home from Germany, he told me, "you know, Dad, I find that I think and talk like you more all the time...." :D
* my 17 yr. old, who has made great choices in life, and appears to have many options (he's in line to receive appointments from both USMA at West Point and USNA at Annapolis). He's also aware that he's not "all that," and has a good head on his shoulders.
* my 12 yr old, who I wouldn't change a thing about if I suddenly had that power.
* my puppy and hiking buddy!

It would be much easier to tell you what I'm NOT thankful for, and there's very little of that. But no sense dwelling on the negative because I'm the kind of guy that sees the glass as half full not half empty.
