When I started cutting my pack weight I went with the GG mariposa plus with 2900 c.i. with a total of 4,200 c.i. The only time I fill the 800 c.i. extension collar is in the winter in Maine where I live . It is best pack I have owned and the best one for me at the time but now I find even when I'm out for a 3 season 7+ day hike I have too much room, which can only could mean one thing I'm carrying around extra weight :(. NOOOOO!

So I need some suggestions for a smaller pack for thru hiking and extended weekend trips. The new miniposa is on my mind it would be saving me ~ 3.1 oz.

1. shelter - GG spinsolo - 9.5 oz w/ lines, GC & stakes
2. pad - cut termarest - 7 oz
3. pack - GG mariposa plus - 19.4 oz w/ pack liner
4. bag - WM highlite - 16 oz
TOTAL = 51.9 oz 3.25lbs

At some point you limit the weight you carry and go with, what works,,,you seem to be there...for a thru-height 26 lbs is GREAT!!! If you go below that you are leaving something behind...ship it home at Neel"s Gap, if do not need it!!!

25 to 26 lbs. is an idea weight to height with!!
