I would like to see a compiled list of all the hiking acronyms used on the forums. Other abreviations/jargon/slang welcomed.

I get into all kinds of activities and I soak up as much information as I can by researching the hell out of it and asking questions on forums. My main hurdle in the learning process every time has been not knowing the jargon.

Thanks!
Brendan

And I have a question about a specific acronym that's not on the list (just so we can get back on topic here)

What are:

1) NOBO
2) SOBO

northbound/southbound?

There's also "flip flop" which is kind of a combination of the two.

NOBO is on the list, SOBO isn't. A SOBO is a NOBO headed in the wrong direction, sometimes it happens in the morning if you aren't paying attention.

Tater is so wrong. SOBOs are hiking in the correct direction, Maine to Georgia. It's all downhill that way.
