I am looking for a new winter pack for carrying my snowshoes when they are not in use. I would like it to be hydration compatible if possible...

I have been looking at the Osprey switch 16 and the camelbak menace. Does anybody have any experience with either of these? Or...does anybody have any recommendations for a different pack for carrying snowshoes?

I will be doing a lot of backcountry sledding/skiing so the pack needs to hold the shoes good and tight.

Thanks for any input,
Jason

Might want to try checking Dakine. www.dakine.com. They make a lot of backcountry skiing/snowboarding packs that are capable of carrying skis and boards and most likely snowshoes as well. I am assuming that this is just a daypack however.

Any daypack with straps that can buckle/unbuckle should work fine for snowshoes. It is how I carried snowshoes with my daypack in the past.

I find packs specifically made for carrying snowshoes tend to be way overpriced.

YMMV.

Hey..I just noticed this statement. Will you be skiing AND snowshowing on the same trips? Just curious. I find that with tele skis and skins I can go anywhere I used to go with snowshoes.

Snowshoes work well with a party of 3-4 if the snow is really deep and powderey. One pair of shoes for the party, the lead guy breaks trail wearing the shoes, his pack (and skis) is in the sled.
