View Full Version : Shinning Rock Wilderness
In Jan. we will be taking our Boy Scout troop to Camp Daniel Boone, near the shinning Rock Wilderness in North Carolina. I would like to take the boys on a day hike, or possibly an over nighter, if the weather allows. Any suggestions? I think the Art Leob TRail connects to Camp Daniel Boone. I would like to climb at least 1 6,000 footer.

Hello,
I used to guide for Camp Daniel Boone and know the trails in that area well.
There are some loop options open to you if you're using the camp as a trailhead.
I'll pm you my phone #.
There are some good threads with info about the Art Loeb on here. Just go on 'search' and type in Art Loeb. :)

Our troop does an annual trip there - here's a trip report from '05:

hiking up to Shining Rock Gap and back would be a tough day trip for Boy Scouts.....
