Just a note, a friend I hike with occassionally turned me on to this little meal

Elbow macaroni
tuna (foil pack or can)
olive oil
mayo (optional..good if you have some mayo packs)
wild onion (chopped).

Soak the macaroni (a handful will do for hiking) in water for a few minutes, then boil it for a minute or two then cozy that. You're trying to get the macaroni to cook with as little fuel as possible.

Drain the xtra water. Add tuna, olive oil and some chopped wild onion. mix well. Yum. You can add mayo if you'd like at this point to bind it better and add some calories.

Also...spaghetti noodles work as do other pastas of course. Angel hair cooks fastest if you'd like that.

A while back, Sgt Rock mentioned that Ramen noodles will rehydrate cold (as for salads); It worked well for me, too. Very good for summertime lunch.

Takes a little longer, but if you don't want hot noodles, it's worth the wait. Just add H2O after breakfast before you take off hiking and it should be ready by lunchtime. :banana
