Setting NOBO 2k8 date ...

Hi all, hope this is the right section to post ....

I'm currently starting to plan a nobo section hike in 2008 with my brother, Since were gonna be doing section from springer to fontana dam we have some lead way as to when to take off since were doing the entire trail in a section, i wish i could get the time off to do it in a single shot, but kids make that hard .. :)

Lets get to the point, Would may or june be a good time to plan ... i'm looking for weather thans kinda cool at night, but nice during the day ... spring like ... but i certainly don't want any chance of snow ...

I agree with LW - Mid May is a great time in GA.

I did Springer to Fontana the first week of June this year, and it got hot during the day. Some nights were also pretty hot. So I third the Mid-May suggestion. Plus if you go that early you might have an easier time hitching into town. I had a little trouble because the thru hikers were past, and people weren't quite as willing to stop. Could have been me though.:-?

Doc (gldwings1) and I are doing the section from Springer to Standing Indian about the same time. We're trying to narrow down our start date now, but we're hoping for the first weekend in May. :)
