When you use this pot support, do you still need a ground cover to keep from scarring the ground?

I'm looking for an all-in-one pot support and ground cover that'll be very stable and prevent my stove from blackening the ground.

Not really. I do use a Anti Gravity Gear priming pan (http://www.antigravitygear.com/proddetail.php?prod=TDPRPN&cat=40) because it seems to make the whole shebang marginally more stable. Also provides marginal insulation from the ground, but that's to stabilize the stoves' performance, not because I've ever noticed it causing any scorching.

I will mention that I have burned my shoelaces off with this stove; I've got a lot more experience with my Trangia Westwind set up; really don't have to be all that careful with leaves and stuff on the ground with the Westwind, just set 'er up and start cooking. With the PMS it really pays to get all the leaves and duff out from the area inside the windscreen.

Just in case you haven't figured it out I really do suggest a bit more care with the PMS or you might get to work your :dance Mystical Flaming Hiker :dance dance steps.

"Fire away" if you've got more questions about the PMS 'cuz I got lots of screwy answer!

Why not carry a 6 inch square of aluminum foil to place under the stove. It weights near nothing, fits in your pot and will reflect the heat back where needed. I only replaced my "base" 3 times my thru.
