What is your choice for sleeping bag if you could only have one bag on a thru-hike down or synthetic and temp rating.

Western Mountaineering's Ultralight down bag. 20 degree rating (or 25) but it is a VERY warm bag compared with others of the same rating.

I have a Feathered Friends Hummingbird that I like very much so far. I've used synthetic and down in the past. This is my favorite bag by far.

If I could only have one bag on a thru hike I'd choose a 20 degree down bag.

My 15-degree down Marmot Pinnacle seems to span a wide range of hiking conditions, but a 20- or even 25-degree bag with an optional silk liner might be better for those hot summer nights.

If I had to have one bag for the whole hike it would be the Western Mountaineering Ultralite. It has a great weight (under 2 lbs), good temp rating 20-25 degrees, and Western Mountaineering has such a high reputation for great quality.

Feathered Friends Wren with zippered arm-holes and drawstring bottom. On those cold night pee-calls I can stick my arms out the two small arm openings and undo the foot of bag, hike it up some and walk out and pee-while still warm in my bag. Just have to remember to really hike it up enough, though :D :D

And, at times its nice to be able to lounge around in the bag and still be mobile. Plus, the zipper is in the middle, where it should be

my Sierra Designs Wild Bill 2.0 has worked GREAT for me for 3 years now.

its rated @ 20 degrees but i believe its a bit warmer than rating.

slept on top of it in Georgia section of A.T. ........

inside in the mtns of NC/TN...."very toasty" in upper 20s, low 30s temps.

synthetic: Polarguard 3D fill & only 2lb12oz....& never have to worry about the downpours because it'll dry fast! :D

I use the Mountain Hardwear 2nd Dimension +15 - Long. I used it in North Carolina last March, we had 9 inches of snow the first night I was there, and it did fine down to 10 Deg. It was a rather sudden storm but the bag worked fine. I was on Blood Mountain OCT for 5 days and it did fine then as well but it did not get as cold. I have always had down bags before this one but it has convinced me that Synthetic bags can be just as good. :clap
