There is a lot commonly used for hikers that is patrolled as well. TVA police for the area: (828) 498-2241

I think the best bet for this is to use the Village. Jeff and Nancy are my neighbors and really don't have room for this, at TVA that is a long time to keep a car there (although done many times.) Fontana however has more space and less traffic. The upper parking lot near the Craft Shop works great. There is no fee.
