Great idea. I'd love to cook some popcorn on the trail.

I just throw a jiffy pop over the fire.

Jiffy Pop has a TON of trans fat.

And I thought steam baked muffins in the morning were cool! I've got to try this over a tea candle ... it would be cool to have a cold pop on the trail and then turn the trash into a popcorn maker for after dinner snacks!

Nice tip, thanks for sharing.

Yeah mine won't open it either.

I have made popcorn at home heating up some oil in a pot. Then putting the pop corn in it and moving it to low heat. Tastes great to me. Plus it is more entertaining then nuking it. This might work using a campstove and pot.

The link didn't work for me either. But I fix up a few of these Hobo Popcorn packets and put in a ziplock and place in my food bag when I am going out for a week or so. Works pretty well. I had to experiment with a few to learn how to fold so it would work well. I use my alchie burner to pop it on.

I tried to make popcorn on the trail once in a MSR Sierra cookpot. Not a good idea. The cookpot has a raised center section to keep heat under it. The oil ran to the outside of the pot and the popcorn burned in the center. If you use a pot, make sure it has a flat bottom.
I couldn't get the link, either. Please give a description.
Thanks.

The link at the top of the page from Freezerbagcooking.com worked for me when I tried it this morning. The second link is a direct link to the video so it should work for everyone.

Can someone describe this thing? I am using an older laptop, no Adobe 9 or whatever they call it.
Thanks.

I made one this afternoon out of a Heineken 24 oz keg, cause you can pop more in the keg. It works great and tastes good too, all popped except for three kernels. The good thing is if you burn the corn as I did on the third round you can always make another one, even on the trail.
