I met Tortoise today around noon-ish at mm 27 in the Keys... hiking towards Springer.

Just heard the name Tortoise today when inquiring about the Overseas Heritage Trail and connecting from there to the AT. (Crazy coincidence!) Monica, with the OHT just met him a day or two ago. Anyway....here's my question:

What is the best route from the Keys to Springer Mountain? I'd like to start with the Overseas Heritage Trail in Key West and hike to Springer Mountain. Is anyone familiar with the trails that connect the entire distance? Has anyone done it? How long? Etc.
