Hey DIY'ers

I'm thinking of sewing a tent / tarp tent for myself. Can any of Y'all recommend a design for me. I'm looking to use it for solo camping.

Homemade gear directions on backpacking.net (http://www.backpacking.net/makegear.html) has some nice designs with directions.

I've made a few. Copied a mega-mid into sil nylon but i think you can buy them like that now. (great design if you need lots of room)

Also designed my own back in '93 that i never got a picture of but was built like a lean-to with sides, floor, bug-net, and rainflap across the front. Named it the "wedge". Used it on the PCT. i loved it, but it needed trees to set it up. (it's still in my garage back in pa somewhere along with my other 7 or 8 tents that i've retired)

Switched to a sil-shelter. Can't find a better design than that one.

get creative, copy other tents with your own custom changes, etc.

quest outfitters has a kit you buy that includes everything to make the Bilgy tarptent. It is a nice silnylon design with full floor and netting. I altered the design a bit and incorporated a small vestibule on the front. About 100 bucks will get the kit manual and all supplies except the sewing machine to your door.
