View Full Version : Cannibal and Zak are off...
Went up to Amicalola for the weekend and saw off Zak, also known as Cerberus, and Cannibal today.
Zak signed in on Fri, the 29th, and proceeded to take a zero day. Cannibal signed in on the 1st, and the two slackpacked a section and then took a nero. After a hearty dinner and hefty breakfast, the two hit the trail around noonish today, depending on what part of the country you live in.
So far the guys have whiteblazed, blue blazed, yellow blazed, slackpacked, took a zero and a nero, and held up their end of an ayce, twice!!! I think they're going to have a good hike.
The other folks at the sendoff were Zak's mom Lost my mind, Ewker, Shadowmoss and Shiloh, who is starting his hike on the 10th. Had a great time around the campfire, after hearing Jan Liteshoe's presentation, and Gene Espy's talk.
Also got to wish Kirby a safe trip, he was very excited.
I think I've gotten bitten by the hammock bug..... is there a cure??????

The best of wishes to both Cannibal and Zak. It was nice to meet them at Amicalola. NO more zero/nero days for a while, OK?
The lodge buffet doesn't deliver either!:eek:

don't deliver what? i appreciate any food i can get. there are folks in this world that would KILL for that food.
Make sure when you talk to Zak's mom that you tell her to check her PM's because I sent her my address and phone number.......
Cerberus left early huh, guess he couldn't wait a couple more weeks. He was ready to go 2 weeks ago. good luck and have lots of fun Cerberus (also know secondly as "huh".)

Yeah - came home last Sunday night and had changed ALL of his plans.
By the way, Zak lost Cannibal somewhere on the approach trail. We waited on Springer awhile, and someone else that came up the approach thought he was at the cabin. (The second one - not the first, although they did consider that if it meant another meal from the buffet!)

Makes me jealous and nostalgic. I was there four years ago, hiking the approach trail on "leap day" with Grass for her March 1st start.
Congrats and best wishes to Zak and all this year's hikers. Does Zak have a Trail Journal? Anyone know any good ones so far this year?

Trail journal is under Zak. Planning to do more of a photo journal for the site and a written one for himself.

I believe the theme for Zak's photo journal is supposed to be: Women in My Hammock. Should be interesting.
I saw Zak smile more on Springer in an hour or so than I've seen him smile the entire time I've known him.

Is he really not going to cut his hair or shave for the entire thru? Fron the couple times I met Zak, he's a pretty happy-go-lucky guy. Hard to imagine him smiling even more. Yeah, I think I saw him at The Lodge for a third go-round with the AYCE...
