A new breed of dog has been bred for its tolerance of ooohhhs and ahhhs from the blonde demographic. This behavior is short lived and must be reinforced with peanutbutter and cheese.

You know, with a bit of training, you might also have a compact dishwasher of your own as well. ;)

Somewhere over the years ... I've heard that dog saliva has anti-septic qualities. So I'm way ahead of the curve with a portable dishwasher on the trail. :D
Don't count on it. A schoolkid told me that for a science project, she'd gotten some mouth swabs from her siblings and her dogs, and raised the bacteria in Petri dishes. She said that the dog's Petri dishes had a really wonderful harvest of cool things growing in it. The sibling's dishes were almost boring by comparison.

Just remember what a dog licks to get the taste of hiker food out of its mouth!!

It was worth licking the plates clean....the mountain house Spaghetti was good, but the lasagna was even better.
Also remember...bacteria and viruses from the mouth can only live on cold objects about 2 minutes. I used to setup microbiology labs for a community college. One lab was to culture the inside of trhe mouth, the lab bench, and the hands. Tenn see how much bacteria grew. The mouth was filthy, hands grew some stuff, but the lab benches grew almost nothing.
