I plan to hike from the DWG to Lehigh Gap Memorial Day week-end. I'll be in Lehigh Gap with my car the morning of Friday, 5/23, and would want to get a ride to the DWG. I am wondering what my shuttle options might be and the best place to leave my car. Thanks.

There's a parking area on the southbound side of the Lehigh River.
As for shuttle options, I can't help you there, sorry...I'm planning to be in a catamaran on The Caribbean at that time.

Phyllis, There are a list of shuttlers on this site. Unfortunately it is a rather longish trip from Palmerton to DWG at least an hour or more. There are 2 lots - One on Rte 248 (east Side of river) and one off Route 873 (West Side of River). If I am planning to head North, I usually park on the North side. If South, Southside.
With that said, The North Lot is off the road and well above the highway and can be hidden from plain view, whereas the Rte. 873 lot is right next to the highway, right after you cross the river and sits in plain view, more likely thwarting any possible vandalism.
Look at the 2 yellow pins in the Photo - The pin on the right side is North TH and the Left side is the South TH.

Janet Goloub is on the list from the ATC website. She's reliable -- but you need to call her in advance to discuss and confirm your schedule requirements. She shuttled me from Palmerton to the bus depot in Allentown at the end of my 2006 section hike.
