What you describe is not inexpensive, but good luck anyway.

This sleeping bag is talked about quite a bit here at WhiteBlaze, do a search for it.
I have one of the Campmor 20* down bags and it is not only pretty light (for the price) but is super warm and IMO roomy for a mummy bag. It even comes with a full length double zipper which helps in venting the foot area.

At that price, it's tempting to pick one of those Campmor sleeping bags up even though I already have a 20* bag.

You get what you pay for. I recommend Western Mountaineering. I have a WM 30* bag and it's kept me warm well down into the teens.

I've been pretty happy with a Mountain Light from EMS. It's rated 20 degrees and it weighs about 2 lb. I got it on sale a few years ago for about $200. I use it with a hennessey hammock for summer hiking, and it works just fine (I'm a cold sleeper).

Ramblin Rose, There are lots of cheap imitation light weight down bags out there that claim 20 degrees and are under 2pounds. I just went shopping at Dicks Sporting Goods & REI today to buy my summer bag. First thing you have to ask yourself if you are not going to camp in winter - (why do you need a 20 degree bag). 2nd if you do "cheap won't cut it." All the lightweight cheap bags are made in China with sewn through construction that creates cold spots. The slightly more expensive bags are baffled construction with added weight & better materials. Hense the cost difference. Dicks had two down Marmot bags to look at, one was $70 & the other was $139 Both clearly showed poor construction & cold spots. I am looking for ultra light and settled on REI Flash at $179 with a 20% coupon and a GC from Christmas. I walked out at $100 for a 40 degree three season bag. I don't think it was any better than the $139 at Dicks.
I really suggest Backpackers 2008 Guide to Gear at the Library.

Wise Old Owl, I would like to know what you think of the REI Kilo Flash bag once you're able to get out and use it. I've been sort of eying one for a summer bag.
