I'm going to start a hike at winding stair gap in NC to Wesser NC. Anyone have an idea about hitchhiking back to winding stair gap from wesser. Does anyone know of any shuttles reasonably priced in that area? The hike is next week. Thanks

Ahh, i did that hitch once. Not sure if it was to winding stair gap or possibly springer. (don't remember the year) BUT, I do remember the ride!
An older black guy picked me up in an old pickup truck (looked like something out of a movie similar to "gone with the wind" ) and then he proceeded to try to convert me to Jesus for the duration of the ride.
That's in the Bible belt and i had no problem getting a ride. Sort of like when i hitchiked around Japan in 92 and a lot of folks would pick me up just to practice their English. Good Luck! and Enjoy!

(Last night, i had a very interesting conversation with a Christian, Buddhist, Athiest and Me.) Sorry for the thread drift but hitchiking can be an education by itself.

you may want to give NOC in wesser a call. they may do shuttles or i wouldn't be surprised if someone in franklin would shuttle you. btw.... that's a great section. i've hiked it many times.

The folks at The Hike Inn may be able to shuttle you, as well.

Ron Haven in Franlin....at the Budget Inn...is the person that I'd suggest. He is known to shuttle from Winding Stair Gap daily.:sun

I don't have an answer that will help you. But I have a question, approximately how many miles is that section of the trail?
