Anybody know where to get aluminum bottles within reasonable driving distance of Boone, NC? I've checked every grocery/package/convenience store in town with no luck. So much for living in a "progressive college town".
Watauga is a dry county, however some towns have special licenses to sell alcohol/liquor. Try Blowing Rocks, Beech Mt or Seven Devils. I wouldn't know specifically where to find aluminum bottles.

Not trying to be difficult, but I grew up here. It's not been dry since the late '70's. We even got a likker store now! So if you ever get down this way, drop by and we'll have a beer!
You trying to make a "White Box Stove"?

if it's a failure, I'll bury it deep.......
Check Mt Dew they have the bottles here in Indiana
if you can catch the bud-light truck at the store, give him a yell.
in our area we have some collector, aluminum, mt. dew cans out at the gas stations.

Very interesting. I'd love to see the pictures when you're do. My wife caught me stalking the cans her hair mousse comes in. Good luck with your project.

As somone who enjoys a good BOTTLE of beer, can I just say - If it's in an aluminum container, it isn't in a BOTTLE - it is in a CAN.

The beer bottlecans have vanished from Kroger & Walmart here as well, but I found Mtn Dew bottlecans at Go-Mart that are almost the same. They were not in the cooler but on an isle stand.

Not saying I wouldn't drink a cold beer out of an aluminum "bottle", of course.

key word here is characteristically...not always. These are definitely bottles...made expressly to contain the liquid at a constant set temp. They worked VERY well but didn't seem to catch on.

The whole invention as I heard - no source was the "bottles" were for stadiums where throwing glass caused lawsuits. Budwieser cases of the product were sold locally here in Pa ... I would be willing to drink one more case next week. tell me how many you want. you pay the shipping... No charge for the washed empties.
Just tring to be nice... I don't care for Bud.

At what point does it cease to be a bottle and become a can/whatever? What if it's made from unusual glass? Crown? Flint? What if it's made of borosilicate glass? What about fused silica? Obsidian? Quartz? Alluminum oxide?

At the point that it becomes a stove.
Try New Mexico, the national forests are littered with them!
