I hvae a Marmot Precip that is about 3 years old and has developed the common delam of the lining at the hood/neck area.

The rest of the jacked is great, I have no issues with it and don't want to replace it quite yet. I'm not being cheap, I just can't justify replacing a perfectly good jacket that has developed a small, yet seemingly fixable, weakness.

Has anybody done a DIY repair on this? Is there a brush-on, heat-transferable, or stitchable material to fix this? I've tried varios tech washes with little success.

Or, is this something that Marmot will fix inexpensively, or swap out with warranty replacement?

I had the same problem about a year ago and went to REI and they replaced it without a problem. Marmot did the same thing for a friend of mine with that same issue.

If Marmot won't make it right maybe consider using mineral spirits to thin out silicone sealant and then brush the mixture on to the affected area.

Marmot has modified their design a little. They have put nylon on neck in the area you mention. I assume to prevent this problem.

It is going to make its way bake for repairs or warranty replacement.

Thanks!

Though the silicone/mineral spirits suggestion is going to have a lot of future applications for other items I have.

So I've been using an old Sierra Designs jacket for a replacement to get me through Mudd season in Vermont until I had my jacket returned. It has been a miserable experience with all of my Sierra Designs gear and this brief period was no different - even with my recent backcountry ski trip that had me lost...and soaked due to a lousy jacket.

Today I received a replacement jacket from Marmot today. Wow, I would have been happy with the same jacket. This is my second great experience with their customer service.

If you aren't building it yourself.....buy Marmot.
