I know there's lots of hikers on the AT once you get there, and that it's really difficult to meet someone to hike the whole trail with (especially SOBO).

But I'd like to try and get someone to hike at least the 100-Mile Wilderness with, since if something were to happen to me there, I'd be in a lot more trouble.

I know this is early to be buddy-hunting, but I'm looking to start in June '09 and would really like to know if there would be someone to go with.

All the SOBO's I saw last year were weird as hell.

I bet all the SOBO's said the same thing about the NOBO's.

No, southbounders definitly had something different about us. Southbound Pride.

It all depends on the time you start. In Early July I say a lot of kids camp groups going through. With that and the northbounders coming thru I didn't spend any nights alone.

Just a note from a Mainer,

June can be cool and rainy in Maine and the black flies may carry you away. We've had a tough winter and with the amount of snow still on the ground it looks like a really late spring. Know you have to plan your hike according to your schedule but if possible the later in June the better for this year.

Now how come one can't start from Katy in March or April?

Oh, dear, you've never been to New England in March or April, have you? Sorry to say, but winter here lasts well into June, even at sea level...and especially this year. It might be August by the time all that snow finally melts in northern New England.

There ain't no climbing of Katahdin in March or April! Unless you're a winter hiking expert...Even then, I'll bid you good luck, and God bless.

Well, OK, maybe June is exaggerating a bit...point is, it's April, and it's definitely still winter here in New England. I still have my heat on full blast, and they're calling for snow tomorrow, so, there you have it.

I don't know what I will be doing in "09" but your more than welcome to keep me in mind. I do resupply for the "100 mile wilderness" section for hikers, dropping around Cooper Brook. On a weekend I'd go a ways w/you or at least you'd know I was here to help if you need it and can get word to me. Keep in touch.

About what you do with resupply and if you have a website or something.

Almost There and I are starting a SOBO section 8/10 and fretting how much to bring and such. I'd like to carry less and hit some miles in the alloted time (fly back 6/22)
