I didn't realize that you can put alerts on your computer, so now I'm constantly looking at all the good deals all day and being tempted constantly to spend my money :D
I just seen a GSI haulite boiler on there for $12 bucks. As soon as the sale came up I got dressed, went outside to my car to get my wallet, came back in to buy it and the deal was gone! :( What to do, oh, what to do....
I did just score my girlfriend a Black Diamond Moxie for $14 bucks though :)

it can be frustrating at times...keep checking all day through all of the sunglasses, goggles and flip flops only to find that you missed a great deal on backpacking gear in your size by a minute or so.

Yea, if you like skiing you theres deals our the wazoo all day long. I do ski but I rather spend my money on backing stuff and just rent. I'll buy a nice pair of ski's one day though. I just can't justify buying ski's over a tent lol
I'm guessing theres just so much skiing stuff on there right now because its going out of season? or is it always like that? I just started following steepandcheap religiously like a week or two ago so I'm really not sure.

IDK about Steep & Cheap anymore. I've bought a fair amount of stuff from them, but especially on some of the smaller items, the shipping and handling fees are so outrageous that it isn't really much of a deal. I was going to buy a biking "road repair kit" (with an instant pump thingie) for my husband, for $10, and then the S & H was $7.80! That just seemed so not worth it... maybe on the bigger stuff, like tents and jackets, it is, but for the small stuff I think it's kind of a ripoff.

woot.com has random stuff; they also have a side deal that you can bid on.

I only buy from SAC if I KNOW for sure I want the item and I know the correct size. I bought a sleeping bag that was a POS and had to pay shipping both ways. Never again.
I also look at woot, yugster, and bitsdujour on a daily basis. I didn't know about outdoordaily so I'll give that one a try also.
Yeah, I wax and wane on steepandcheap. Sometimes I have it up just for something to look at, since I sit in front of a computer at work all day. Occasionally they'll have something that looks really cool and is super cheap, and it ends up being my favorite gear item, and I'm so proud of myself for having gotten it for almost nothing. Then I take a risk on a few more things and don't really like them, but don't want to go through the hassle of sending them back. So then I take a break from steapandcheap for a few months, concluding that in the end, the hit and miss aspect results in few cost savings. But for some reason I always come back eventually.
