I have had great luck with these shoes in the past and decided to try out the new (and first try for NB at boots) 1200 series hiking boots.
The good is that they:
- needed no break in time.
- stick to wet/dry roots, rocks and dirt well. They even have good grip in slush and ice (as good as it gets without spikes)
- dry out fast
- light weight
The bad:
- at 200 miles the seams started to tear apart, on top and the sides.
- at 270 I noticed the soles had lugs that ripped off from walking on rocks.
New Balance is sending me a new pair in VA. Hope it was just a bad run, I love the boot and it fits great. They are the only ccompany that makes them that fit my wide arse feet.
Anyone else try these out yet?

I have had my NB Wafflestomps for 4 years and I don't wear them all too much as I normally wear 803s-810s for the past 8 years. I would be willing to bet I have less than 400 miles on them and I have noticed the sole has completely delaminated from the boot this winter. I like the wide version, so I will likely buy again.

 Seem all shoe companies have quality problems today. The $$ and pleasing the shareholders, as well as paying the CEO's $50000000000 salary is the most important!
Custom-made shoe-makers are realizing a market-boom. Seems folks are willing to pay the price for comfort and long-term quality.
IMHO, my 2-cents :D
Wish you the BEST Wrongway!
I wear the Dunham Terrastryder Mid (http://www.dunhambootmakers.com/outdoor/Men-s-Terrastryder-Mid.212.01.htm) and have had zero problems with them at all. They're very comfy, keep my feet dry and I got bought them on sale with free shipping. :D Very worth the money I paid for them, although they weren't terribly expensive at all.

the New Balance only cost around $130.00 shipped.
was kinda worried about it being there first attempt at a boot .....I hope they get the problem fixed quick, they are comfy and about the only shoe that fits me right.
guess we will see after the new ones get here.

Am I reading the weight right on the New Balance site? Are the 1200 series really averaging 12oz each?
