I know you're probably not asking for advice, but you will find a much better bag in the Marmot Pounder, which ive seen on sale at various online stores. Same design, better construction.

the Marmot pounder is better? I've had a TNF cats meow bag and really liked it. i guess I just assumed since it was a good bag (true to its temp. rating and reasonably well made) that the Propel would be too.

DO you have personal experience with these two bags or are you just assuming Marmot is superior to TNF? I'm interested in your advice.

i apologize for speaking out of turn, but TNF bags from my experience, are no better than marmot. if you could get one cheaper than the other, go for it. though i do like primaloft (marmot) better than the delta in TNF. another consideration would be mountain hardware's lamina 40. not as light, but close.. true to temp, packs small and retails for around $100. picked one up last summer and love it.

Thanks for the advice Creepy Uncle. lol. Love the handle btw. Um I didn't want to get tooo heavy on the weight but I'll check out the mountain hardware. Thanks for the advice.

I will say, on the newer models, I do like the foot box vent feature on the Propel...my feet/legs get hot and my shoulders get cold...go figure. lol.

I've heard some people had issues with the marmot pounder and the temp. rating (I own a Marmot Helium 15 degree bag...and I slept very nicely in it below its temp rating...I also made sure I shared a tent with a big fury guy so I'm not sure how much of it was my bag or the guys body heat...hmm).

ANywho, I need a summer bag, but I don't want to freeze it if gets into the 40's at night (say like this time of year)

I used the Pounder last year as my summer bag & found it very true to the temp. rating. Kept it all the way from Pearisburg to Mt. K. & only had a few sub 35 degree or so nights during the last couple of weeks that I wished I had my 15 degree bag for.

found it very true to temp rating.. but i always carry a silk liner as well. spent a few nights around 6000' with the mercury dropping in the high 30s and slept comfortably in lightweight long underwear. and i'm not a very hot sleeper.

it does have a true full length zipper, so you can unzip the foot section if the dogs get too warm.

but if you have the cash, and are super weight conscience.. the pounder may be the way to go. i've yet to find a synth i like better than primaloft (which, if you have the patience, you can order by the yard and make your own)

crap... just remembered. email Ed Speer (ed AT speerhammocks DOT com). ask him if he will make you a frog sac (it's a product recently discontinued... primaloft bag with a drawcord closure at the base, rated to 40 degrees, and retailed around $100.. checked in at about 16 ounces)

Ed's a great guy, heck his trail name is "Not to Worry", and would at least be good for a honest assessment of your personal gear needs.

a frog sac? Thanks for all the info. I went on a trip this past weekend and the only bag I had (I wasn't bringing down on this rainy trip) was my 20 degree TNF...I about roasted to death...i had to open it up and use it like a quilt...which left me cold iin other places....
