I'm looking for a Hennessey Hammock, preferrably one of the ultralights (i.e. Ultralight Backpacker or Explorer Ultralight). Doesn't need to have a tarp or anything. Let me know if you are selling one!

I would suggest the Ultralite, if you're not much heavier than the suggested guidelines. I'm 6'0" a little larger around than the suggested, but I find the Ultralite to be more comfortable than my Expedition, and quite lighter. Try looking on Hammock Forums, there are lots of guys that have started making their own hammocks and are retiring their Hennesseys. Some folks are quite content with the standard rainfly, but if you think it's going to rain you might want to find an upgrade to something a little larger.

Looking at your profile, you need to check out Outdoor Equipment Suppliers. Brain is about your age, majoring in Mechanical Engineering, and making high quality hammock tarps on the side.

I checked out his page and wow, his tarps are definitely pretty nice. Very impressive, especially considering the workload we have as engineering students. I don't know where he finds the time.

Just curious though, and this may be a dumb question, but why do I need a $100 tarp vs. the Hennessey tarps?

The stock Hennessy tarp is. qhilte honestly, pretty small. It only provides a minimal amount of coverage at best. It'll keep you dry most of the time, but that's about it. A larger tarp, such as one of Brian's OES MacCat tarps (http://www.outdoorequipmentsupplier.com/maccattarps.htm), a Speer Winter Tarp (http://www.speerhammocks.com/Products/Tarps.htm), a Speer Cat Cut tarp (http://www.speerhammocks.com/Products/Tarps.htm), or a Jacks r Better Cat tarp (http://www.jacksrbetter.com/index_files/11%20x%2010%20Tarp.htm), etc will not only give you considerably more coverage against the elements, but will also provide you with room to store your gear, change clothes, cook, eat, and other little camp chores that you may want to do in dry mode during wet weather. Hope that helps to answer your question for now. If you have any others, come visit us over on Hammock Forums (http://www.hammockforums.net), WB's sister site. We'd be glad to help with any other quetions you may have.

or even share your tarp with another hammocker!

pic of my and my son's setup last week on the AT, under my new Speer Winter Tarp, after hiking in the rain all morning.....my stock HH fly is hanging over his hammock. He's sitting in my hammock.
