Has anyone ever owned the new balance 851 hikers? Are they good hiking boots? Another problem i have is finding a good assortment of size 15 hiking boots to choose from, any help with this or suggestions would be welcomed. I'm a larger than noraml hiker at 6'3'' and 310lbs so cushioning is helpful.

i met a guy called tall paul on the pct. he had a similar problem with shoes but found that basketball shoes worked well as they cater for large sizes and therefore he had some good choices as to what fit him best. they will be quite light and great for cusioning and will give the ankle great support. dont go for the ones with plastic under the arch of the foot on the sole especially on the AT. if you stand on a wet tree root you will slide of it like ice.

I have a pair of NB 965 hiking shoes, not really boots. I love them. I have always been a huge NB fan.
I have used the NB 800 series trail runners with good results (801-811) but not familiar with the 851s. The ones I have used are great on the trail, with no blisters to date!
i'm on my second pair of 977 hikers and love them. i also have used NB trail runners and road running shoes as well and have never had a problem with any of them. great shoe company imho....fifo

I just bought my first pair of real hiking boots...women's NB 977s...It was an accident, sort of...I was just browsing to see what the local stores had to offer...they were the third pair I tried on and instantly fell in love...so comfy and light! But they feel like they'e sturdy enough to take on mountains!!
Any more reviews on the New Balance 977s??
