The list of shuttle people has no one listed for Georgia.

I plan on parking at Dick's Creek and starting my section hike from Neel's Gap.

Does anyone have a person they could refer me to. I recall some names of people (in Suches perhaps??) being posted last year.

I'm too old and ugly to hitch hike.<G>

Highly recommend Sally & Joyce @ 706 896 9339

I used them a couple weeks ago for a Hogpen Gap to Dicks Creek Gap section; met them at their house in Hiawassee and they took me to Hogpen. Left my vehicle safely parked at their house. They then staged my vehicle at Dicks Creek Gap on the morning of the day I finished the section.

Very reasonable.

Ewker and I used them too last year for a shuttle to Springer. I highly recommend their services.

You can contact Mountain Crossings as well. Several of the employees do shuttles.

Thanks my friends,
Sally and Joyce it is, on the basis of geography. They are only 5 or six miles from Dick's Creek.

Thanks for asking this question. You saved me a couple of steps. How reasonable are the prices they charge? By the hour? By the mile? How far in advance do I need to make arrangements?

We used Sally & Joyce last year as well. They'll charge a flat fee based on point to point. I can't remember what we were charged last year for this shuttle (Dicks Creek Gap to Neels Gap), but I'm sure it's more now anyway, with the cost of gas as it is now. I know it was reasonable, however. Just call and ask what the charge is - they are good people.

one of the replies in this thread gave a link to their site. that had a chart of distances and prices to each.

I called Sally last night, and for a shuttle from Hiawassee to Amicalola (park at her plcae for a week) the cost was $88, which is comparable to two others I called this week. I like the secure parking at her place.

Ressurecting an old post here.....

Does anyone know if this Sally and Joyce is still around? And if so is the phone number listed above still correct (706 896 9339)?

My gf and I will need a ride from roundabouts Dicks Creek to Amicalola, thought about giving them a call, just wanted to check an update on them.

Thanks

I use the Hiker Hostel because I can stop off there and get a shower before I have to drive back. They also let you leave your vehicle with them while you're hiking. I'm sure all are comparable and everyone I've used has has reasonable prices.

Hitching is not difficult, either. . . just use common sense. Most people who will pick you up just pull off at the parking lots when they see you come out of the woods. I waited all of three minutes one day. ; - ) The people who live close to the trail are so nice. They don't even make faces when they pick up stinky hikers.

I've used Joyce & Sally, as well as Josh & Leigh. You can't go wrong with either of them.
