hi fellow hikers.i was wondering if there was anyone out here in wester,ma that might be interested in doing some day hiking and possibly some overnight backpacking excursions with me? I don't know many other local backpackers and was hoping to connect with some cool people.
I'm not some sketchy guy,i'm 31 and just a nature lovah relocated from the big city of New Yawk 6 years ago.
i'm planning my 09 thru hike and looking to get in some decent wilderness backpacking time.

I live in central MA and did an overnight on greylock this weekend. I hit Mt. Tom and the rest of the holyoke range pretty often with my wife and/or father in law.
Moved this to the hooking up forum.

hey early,
i'm located in hartford ct and get out for 2-3 days a week depending on my schedule. i work every other weekend and normally have 4 days off a week.
i'll be around this area until the end of july and have some bits and pieces left of the AT in this area to finish, so definitively keep in touch and keep me informed of your plans.
I parked in cheshire at St. Mary Somethingoranother church and hiked up the AT to greylock, then down Gould trail to the Peck's brook shelter. Nice spot, with a great view of a waterfall but crowded as 8 guys showed up as I was leaving. I was planning to stealth, I just checked out the shelter and ate dinner there. Not much water on the way up, but Gould has a nice water source. Then on the return trip I went down Cheshire to Old Adams rd, both are wide rocky horse road trails. nice and flat for the most part to get back. Lots of water

The AT was a very long approach, but nice. It seems there are a lot of much shorter (and more popular) routes to the top.
I'm happy to answer any specific questions.
