I think he's for real. He's had some DIY gear elsewhere.

I've seen this before on youtube. Here (http://youtube.com/watch?v=YGZKmryb2LI) he is. I'd never seen the website to join though.

Jason is not only for real, but makes great contributions to our "community". Great guy w/great ideas.
I've stolen many ideas for alky stoves from Jason, he's a good cat! I joined the mailing list and look forward to seeing that box, very cool idea!
i joined the list but not sure if i will still be home ( thought occured to me after wards) so ill have my mother "bounce" it to me at the next mail drop and from there make my pick and my addition will just take a couple extra days to get to the next person
This is more of a gear swap than free gear, otherwise you'll be shipping an empty box to the next on the list.
good way of putting it but IMHO awesome idea

Help!
Monday, June 23, 2008
First, let me apologize for disappearing for a while. I know many of you are wondering what's going on. Work and my personal life have been a little hectic lately and it's kept me from working on the box project.
The response has been a lot more than I anticipated and I am literally overwhelmed with responses. Right now, I have 80 people signed up! Unfortunately, I don't have enough stuff to send out all the boxes I need to, nor the spare time to keep up with shipping, etc. So, I'm asking for your help.
I have an idea that might be a win-win situation for everyone. I'd like 5 or 6 volunteers to be "shippers". You put a small box together and I will send you a list to include in it. Then, you ship it to the first person on the list. This way, each list will be shorter and people will receive the box a lot faster than if there are 80 people on it.
If you're interested in volunteering, please email me a.s.a.p. Also, if anyone is willing to take over the site completely, please let me know. I will pay for the site and do the maintenence if you're willing to manage it.
I never expected this idea to be so popular and I want to keep it going but I just can't by myself. So if anyone is willing to help out in any way, it would be much appreciated.

if i wasnt leaving in 4 days i would be more than happy to :-(
I signed up and am sending out a box this week.
I've got so much extra stuff laying around I could probably pull together 50 boxes.
Would someone please fill a box with:
- a WM Badger sleeping bag, long, left zip
- Montbell down jacket and pants, extra large
- a double rainbow tarp tent
- a ULA pack to fit a tall torso
Just fill in all the loose spaces with Hawk Vittles and mail teh box to me. I'll take care of it from there!
Thanks.

I got THE BOX last week. Scored a tarp shelter, a homemade UL pack (like a g4) and a Backpacker's Pantry Huevos Rancheros.
