I am interested in the Marmot Dri Clime Windshirt. Prices range from $75-$125.00. The reviews that I have read have been glowing and the marketing and advertising is really persuasive, but for that kind of money I would like opinions from those of you who own and use the windshirt.
Is it worth the money?
Is there something better for less?
Thanks

I like it and now pack it along instead of a long sleeve shirt. Warmer than the typical shirt, plus wind resistant. However, I still pack along a fleece top also.
I have one and love it. When the temps are 20-50 degrees f I can hike in this layer only and regulate temperature with the chest pocket or the zipper (mine has a full zip). It also has pit vents, but no zips. There is no reason to even wear a baselayer as the lining is soft and made of wicking Driclime fabric. At 10-11 oz I think it is a great baselayer that affords wind protection to boot. I just got mine in fall but I will probably carry it in my pack every season except for summer instead of a long sleeve shirt. Good idea Peaks  I would say is is worth it if you can find one on sale.
I have the Marmont Dri Clime Vest and the Marmont Dri Clime Windshirt. I use either depending on the weather in North Georgia almost daily on my practice hikes. They are great. I plan to carry the windshirt on the tru-hike. I will also have a Patagonia Puff Ball for the camp jacket. The ability of the Windshirt to dry quickly is a stronger factor for me over the wind protection.

I've got the marmot driclime, the EMS copy, and the Buffalo Techlite...La AquaNa has the hooded driclime. My favorite is the Buffalo because it has far more ventilating options (full side zippers),hand warmer pockets, kangaroo pocket, waist belt to pull it snug for most effective moisture transfer, a hood.
Here is the link to Buffalo systems:

You should at least know what is happening on the other side of the ditch...if you do order one it will take a little longer to get but after currency exchange the price is concordant with the Marmot-just more bells and whistles for the monies......
Now with all that applaud I have to be honest and tell you that I cannot hike in the Buffalo Activity Shirt unless it is really really cold....remember these shirts are to be shirts, they function best when they are skin-tight (another plus for the Buffalo with its internal waist cord that is tightened via the handwarmer pocket sleeve which goes from side to side)....for me this shirt is so warm it will cover all way into the teens while I'm generating heat....
Of interest if you are a gearfreek, Buffalo was using Pertex years before it got to the US and were among the first to marry pertex to a micropile lining....also important, the sleeves are cut large enough to pull up over the elbows and a cuff strap via velcro can cinch the sleeve down in that position.
My first buffalo was purple and black but the purple was to violet for my manhood so I got an all black model.
Just wanted to make you aware of competing models, good luck with your decision.

I've got a driclime and love it! After I got it (harpers ferry) I sent home my fleece and just kept a midweight capilene. Its a great shirt to hike in or as a decent layer. I did get mine a little big so that I could layer more underneath so its not as warm as it should be....but its a great jacket...well worth the money.
Thanks, everything I have read about the windshirt has been very positive. But I trust the opinions of Whiteblaze members more than advertising.
