Anyone have a suggestion on mess kits? I would like a pot and a pan that is light and durable. Anything else included in the kit would be an added bonus.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Cook set are kinda like everything else in hiking.....choices, and tradeoffs. Comfort for Weight. Most of the Thru-Hikers are using high tech titanium cookware. Stiff and hard like steel, but alot lighter. MSR makes good titanium cookware. I use MSR .9liter cook pot and lid. Titanium spoon. That's it. I also carry a Titanium cup for coffee and to 'dip and fly' from springs as I'm hiking. If you consider a stove part of Cook Set, some do, Get a lightweight, simple stove. I carry the MSR Pocket Rocket for the AT. The gas is found at most outfitters and the stove itself weights 3.5oz. KZ@;) Peaks 03-01-2004, 07:58 Anyone have a suggestion on mess kits? Just boil 2 cups of water and add Mac and cheese, Liptons, Ramen, etc. So, the only mess kit is usually a small pot and lid. See the pole on "What's in your kitchen" for who carrries what. Also see the pole on cookware materials to see what who's using titanimum, stainless, or aluminum. |
