Since gas prices have induced me to get a newer, highly economic car, my plans for hiking the AT are shot for at least 3 years. (Car payments suck) I can do the John Muir trail and other shorter excursions. (Long Trail?)

So, now I am concentrating on the JMT.

I opened this thread for info on this trail since I do not see a forum for it... yet.

It would be great to see a separate forum for the JMT though. :)

I'm doing a stretch of it starting next week -- not enough time to do "the whole thing." I'll post a report & photos when I get back.

Thing is, I'd planned to do a different PCT section much further north, but because of fires, we relocated the hike to the N end of the JMT. But as of last week there's a new fire near Yosemite. F'n fires are following me. :(
