I had this great 20 mile hike planned for me and my father, a goal for both of us to do a 20 miler and I went and got directions and turns out it's 3 hrs from my house... lot of driving with a 20 mile hike in between.

I am looking for a 20 mile hike in Southern New Hampshire, preferably an hour or so south of the kancamangus Highway... Anyway, if someone knows of a good area with some loops or a good out and back, let me know... Thanks and Happy Trails

Name some towns you want to be near.

Probably somewhere in between Nashua and Laconia... kind of a broad spectrum.... Anything viable in Bear Brook state park or Pawtuckaway State park?? I don't have maps for that area...

Mt. Chocorua itself is a nice climb with fine views and the area around it offers a variety of terrain. Without suggesting a specific route (you can pick one), there are lots of trails to and around Chocora, which is just South of the Kancamagus Hwy.

Take a look at your trail maps and you'll find that it's all good.

Anyone have a map of the Wapack trail? I think this might be my option... it's an extension of the mid state trail that was just added recently from what I gather, it's 21 miles from northern MA to southern NH... if anyone happens to have a scannable map that would be good... understandably a shot in the dark.

Anyone have a map of the Wapack trail? There is a good trail guide out. EMS and REI should have it.

Get the AMC guidebook for Southern New Hampshire. Plenty of trails for a 20 mile hike:

Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway

Wapack Trail

Sunapee-Ragged-Kearsarge Greenway (no camping)

Other state parks, like Pawtuckaway.

If you haven't found it through Google, here is the Wapack Trail website:

The trail dates back to 1923. I hike it as a day hike about six years ago and it was great. Typical southern NH hiking, short easy climbs, good trail and plenty of views. You should be able to get a guide and/or map from the website. I bought mine at a southern NH EMS store just before my hike.
