Here are my thoughts on some good clothes that may not be so conventional.

Silk shirt and undergarments, I saw that silk makes good for shirts and stuff hiking. It is the strongest natural fiber, doesn't get stinky, wicks well, and insulates when wet, is lightweight and feels nice.

I was thinking about Linen pants, as Linen is 4 times stronger than cotton and dries quicker.

I might get those swishey sounding zip off pants though...

Try nylon, it's 4 times lighter and dries quicker.

Try polyester, lighter and wicks away perspiration and drys incredibly fast. Underarmour and REI brands will cost you over $20 for a Tee, but shop sales and less known brands for better prices and same product. For pants, try these (I have a charcoal and khaki pair). Got mine on sale for $35 each. I love them:

P.S. The right cargo pocket has a zipper AND velcro closure to ensure what you put there will not fall out/get lost.

You are definitely thinking in the right direction . . . leave cotton at home! :)

Yep, nylon convertible pants can't be beat, IMO.

never thought about silk for a hiking shirt but I guess it basically feels like many of the polyester ones out there anyways....does the fabric breathe very well?

definitely go with nylon pants as it should dry quicker than liner
