Our good friends Chaco, Wak, and Johnny Thunder will be finishing up their hikes any day now, and many of us keep track of them on the "Where's Colonel Chaco?" thread.
This thread was just locked down, for reasons that escape me.
Can it be re-opened please, so we can send our good wishes to our friends?
And once again, I hate to have to say it, but the "Lock down" thing on threads sees to be getting sorta heavy-handed. If a post is out of place or needs editing or removal, then this can be done in around 15 seconds. There's no need to lock down, move, or kill a perfectly good thread because of one or two posts that need cleaning up.

Jack there seems to be some confusion between Mods. The thread was originally closed at Chaco's request but then reopened and then closed again.
I wasn't in on this process but I've re-opened it until it gets ironed out.
It appears like a mis-communication to me.
Sorry to all for the confusion.

don't speak to the mods in that matter...don't like WB go somewhere else.

Thank, Jack. I had a very garbled call/message from Chaco this afternoon. Don't know if he said he would be summitting this Saturday, or had already made it to Katahdin. Thanks for all of your encouragement and help along the way.

I do not understand, the chaco thread has been full of well wishes by those of us who have followed his hike from the beginning. I have been waiting to hear if he has completed his long journey with great anticipation. Hope to hear soon. Whatever happened, I wish you well, Chacotaco. What a great hike! :D

The mods are volunteers with real lives outside of WB. So what appears to be 15 seconds to you is not 15 seconds to them. They do not sit around here reading and just waiting for something to come up. Also, While one mod may feel that a post/thread may cause some concern, they can and do move it temporarily off the public area so that other mods can chime in, give their assistance or help handle a situation. This will take more that the alleged 15 seconds. Some folks need to have a tad more patience.

This original Chaco thread has now been restored (and thank you!!).
This thread has now served its purpose and can be deleted.
One last thing, and this is just a suggestion and not mean as criticism, but to avoid confusion like this in the future, perhaps when a thread needs to be moved, examined, cleaned up, whatever, perhaps when this is done the moderator can take a few seconds and say this right on the thread, so people know what's going on. A simple "This thread is being evaluated and edited and will return shortly" would solve a lot of problems.
Good point Jack. Many times a thread is reported and the mods don't have enough time due to real life obligations to go through it but, a simple message until they can get back to it would help.

Sorry ya'll. I had requested that my thread and MY NAME be deleted from WB at one point because of some messages I received from others about my opinion about somethings. ATTROLL and I had PM'ed and i asked that it be closed. Instead he just moved it. Later, Alligator asked if I would like to have it back available to all to read. I asked him if he would do that and he did. Those are the facts. Sorry but i got a bit pissed at some WB people and, at one time, wanted to get off and stay off of this site. Thanks to all of my friends showing how much they have been behind me on this, I asked it to be re-opened. Sorry to cause so much trouble but you can thank the poopheads who probably dont even hike on this site for that!

while following your thread, i was hoping to catch you and crew when you passed thru CT, but you snuck past when i wasn't paying attention
congrats on completing your hike!!

Well, you passed along an unsubstantiated rumor about Karl Metzer, called him a douchebag, and then claimed that if you trained you could complete the trail faster than him.
At least thats what I remember.
So, yeah, if you got a few PMs then I can believe it.

You remembered INCORRECTLY!!! Get your facts straight before jumping in here. I also said that if I trained, i would love to give him a run for his money. Also, I did apologize very openly about going on what others had said.
