View Full Version : Bear Photo
ChinMusic 09-29-2008, 23:08 While this wasn't on the AT, I still wanted to share a pic of a bear I encountered in Manitoba today. It was a thrill to see this beauty and to have my best camera system at hand.
This shot it full frame, uncropped, but resized for easier web viewing.

300mm 2.8 with a 1.4X extender.
This bear was beautiful, healthy, and obviously ready for winter. I feel blessed to have gotten to see it. The surroundings with the lichen on the rocks just adds to it.
Homer&Marje 09-29-2008, 23:39 That's a great shot. Only bear I have seen close enough took off running. This one looked, interested.

WetBottom 09-30-2008, 06:46 Great picture! I thought the same thing a lot of people thought... It looks HUGE for a black bear. Rolly polly bear. :)

Were you in a car or on foot on a trail at the time? Or something else?

I am on a fishing trip just north of Flin Flon, Manitoba. So, I was safely in a boat. Not many people live in this area so these bears rarely have contact with people.

Which means it is wise to stay away from them, indeed. Totally habituated black bears are dangerous, but bears that don't see people often are most often implicated in predatory "stalk and kill" attacks.
sasquatch2014 09-30-2008, 10:13 Now that is what a bear should look like. So many of the black bears that I have seen look more like a mutant large dog than a good healthy bear. Its obvious that we need to send more small helpless school children out into the woods to help fatten them up.
Jan LiteShoe 09-30-2008, 10:14 What a plumpkin.
And I love the level of detail.
Good work!
TJ aka Teej 09-30-2008, 10:27 Was this at Big Bear Lake? :D Thanks for sharing this super photo, ChinMusic!
Awesome shot.
The biggest thrill I get hiking is seeing bears in the wild.
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing...
Yup, its a bear. So whats the question?
J/K. That is an awesome shot. I always see their asses as they are running away. :D
dvdcupgo339 11-19-2008, 22:24 You love to watch DVDS and MOVIES, and you're building up a collection, but you don't like to spend a lot on DVDs. Who does? One of the smart things a movie enthusiast is to know where to exactly get DVDs at bargain prices or at what must of us call- cheap. When it comes to getting bigger DVD collections for your home entertaining needs or for perhaps, a new start-up business- everything that has to do with wholesale DVDs (http://www.dvdcup.com/catalog_8.html) purchases can be achieved with distributors that sell both in singles or in bulk. You can see such DVD distributors both on eBay and on the Internet in action everyday upon submitting searches on Google or Yahoo. The important thing to recognize here is- many of the so-called DVD cheap prices, are not the lowest prices they can really usually be.With today wide range of online wholesale DVD store (http://www.dvdcup.com/catalog_8.html) options you can select from a huge amount of sellers online. You can go to eBay right now and get brand new DVDs at good prices, but are eBay prices the best DVD prices you can get on the Internet? They are good prices but you can get lower prices for in-demand DVDs. That can be achieved by getting a reliable and profitable DVD wholesale (http://www.dvdcup.com/catalog_8.html) distributor. There are many online selling in bulk and in singles both on eBay and on regular listings both on the search engines. But what happens if you have an Internet store like we do or you perhaps want to add more DVDs to your home entertainment collection? Would you buy from the first distributor that comes up to you and says- I am a distributor? Of course not, you are not a fool- you will only buy from reliable DVD distributors that you can trust your money. So the greatest source you can get a distributor is from a DVD wholesale distributor. The same applies when starting a retail business with DVDs. By buying wholesale DVDs (http://www.dvdcup.com/catalog_8.html) at bargain prices- you assure yourself of the best sales and, therefore, the greater net profits in return for your sales. To tell you a little more, I started searching the Internet for a wholesale DVD list that can give me the prices I was looking for both my DVD collection and my store on the Internet. I found them, it took me thousands of testing hours to believe, trust and certify as reliable. Best of all, the DVD distributors (http://www.dvdcup.com/) that I found are profitable- just in case you decide to build a DVD store business in the future either online or offline. But with some great online sites, there's no need to spend sticker price on DVDs ever again. YES, THAT'S WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. www.dvdcup.com
