Chatter and I are planning on doing a hike in the Presidentials (probably Mt. Washington) as an overnighter (camping location to be decided) next week during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot (my bosses are Jewish). We may have another hiker along (a slower hiker). Anyone interested from my area or farther north can ride with us. PM me.
Thanks T.

I read your entry. Glad you had a great time. That's what we all go out there for!

Ethan Pond is full of leeches, in case you're ever considering swimming in it in the summer. Just thought you'd like to know.

I just got back from the Northern Presidentials. Weather was sunny, windy on Tue. for hikes up Madison and Adams. This morning Rick and I hiked up Jefferson while Chatter stayed behind at the Perch. No wind this morning, summit temps in the high 40's sky was nearly cloudless. Best weather I ever had for a Presi October hike. Chatter and I stayed in my Hilleberg Akto tent (unclipped inner tent) while Rick (Turtle - one of many) stayed in the shelter. After sleeping from 7:30 to 3:00, Chatter and I couldn't sleep anymore, so we made coffee under a full moon :). After that, we took our bags and pads and put them outside on the platform and watched the stars and joked around a bit. The man in the tent above us commented that he heard us up and making coffee in the WEE hours of the morning and we apologised for waking him. He was a very congenial fellow named Frank who was spending a few days decompressing from his daily life and was out to "get away from people" - so much for that! A great time was had by all (until we tried to get out of the car at the Burger King - stiff and sore - age takes the suppleness out of the old joints and muscles). Feeling better now.

Sorry about the short notice for you folks here, and I guess most of your bosses don't close their businesses for Succot.
I hope to be able to do a short winter overnighter in the Whites later this year and will keep you all posted.
