sad to hear this... just shows how life can change at a moments notice. i just got back from ICU at UMASS med center. my best hiking bud frenchie was admited on tues evening after a terrible accident while working. he has multiple facial fractures[eye orbital, nose, cheek bones and jaw bone] also has some bleeding of the brain, 5 broken ribs,a broken clavical and will be undergoing eye surgery within the next few days and after that if the bleeding in the brain doesnt stop he may need some type of surgery for that. i wasnt able to talk with him much because he was asleep when i 1st got there. it looks to me he will pull thru just fine in the long run. he has a pretty strong mind and a physical abilty with no quit.
i just wanted to throw that out there so we can all remember the people who affect our daily lives, or even the people we only cross paths with on very few occasions. frenchie and i used to hang out almost every day but lately he has been with his girlfriend and hasnt hit the trail alot but that doesnt mean he isnt my#1 hiking pal. well on that note i hope everyone who reads this can for 1 second say a quick prayer for frenchie, shelterbuilder or anyone we know who needs it...
thank you all , nitewalker..
