Changing Username

Greetings,

I saw a "how-to" thread below suggesting that users write to Sgt. Rock and ATROLL for username modifications. I tried, but it said those names did not exist.

Can mine please be changed to "Vince"? I suppose that's my default trail name by now, and though I don't know too many in the community, most on the GA know me as that.

I've been trying for several days to get my User Name changed from my real name (Bill Luttge) to my trail name (FireBall). I've been using FireBall as my trail name since I thru-hiked the AT in 04. I've also used FireBall for my thru-hikes of the PCT (05 & 07), the Tuscarora Trail (06) and the Superior Trail (08). My trail journals also list me as FireBall. I was told my attrol that my trail name was already taken, but I checked and the closest I found was some new hiker using Fireball -- NOT FireBall.

So in sum, I would be very grateful if someone would change my WhiteBlaze user name to FireBall so all of my hiking buddies can recognize my posts, etc.

BTW, thanks for the detailed observations in your trailjournal for that hike! I've referred several to it as an update for the 12 year old guide. (Which should hopefully be reprinted very soon.)

Maybe when I get a trail name I can request a name change on WB too!

I think that everyone who is changing their handle needs to include a description under their new name a la Prince: "The hiker formerly known as ..."

The updated handles are an overall improvement, but I'd still like to see Just Plain Jim changed to Fairy Godmother!

You can not change your user name. One of the administrators has to change it from this end. All I ask is that you do a search through the membership list to make sure the name is not being used already and then write to one of the administrators with your current user name and the new one you would like to change it to.

I like this thread... when I signed into this site I had a choice of two names I wanted. Flightdeck was good, but, I should have stuck with something more me. Would it be possible to get 'Neanderthal' ? I'm 6'5, 250, w/ red hair.... it does fit me :^D

It is my understanding that your trail name should be given to you from the other hikers. I would like to change my name so I can start a journal. I used my real name Rita, but I would like to change it, however, I am not quite sure what to change it to. Maybe I could use rka001. Can you change it for me?
