I'll be leaving around the time frame from Maine but I had planned on taking a bus. Some friends of mine did offer to drive me but I didn't really think that would be practicle.

If you wanted to drive down or have friends drive you I would share in the cost of gas, tolls etc. Where abouts in Maine are you from?

I'll be leaving Maine mid March to start my trip. Haven't looked too far into how I will be getting there or what not but I figured I'd mention it. I'd be all for sharing some expenses if there was a carpool or something heading down.

EDIT: Even though I live in Iowa at this moment, I will be moving back to my 'hometown' of Bethel Maine before I start the adventure.

You might want to check on a one way car rental.

Thanks for the suggestion, never thought of that one... But I don't think I'd be able to, being 25 and all... I don't quite get that but heh, I might someday. Although oddly enough I did get to rent a u-haul truck last year so who knows at this point... Would anyone on the trip down their be willing in pooling some money together to do a rent-a-car trip :P Well, least its on topic!

Stay in touch. Some New England folks will be driving down to Duncannon PA in early March for a hiker get-together at the Doyle Hotel. There may well be rides south from there on the 8th or 9th.

Thanks for the heads up. Let me know if you hear of anyone going down that way.

What's the deal with a get together at the Doyle? It may be enough of an attraction to get me going down and giving a neighbor a ride. I had lunch at the Doyle this Fall on my hike through and I share Jack's impressions of the place/town. Nice feeling and my kind of place despite the outside appearance.

Hey, I just posted a thread without reading the others really.. Well I'm planning on leaving probably the last week in March from CT, and we're considering renting a car. If you could get a ride down here we might be able to work something out. PM me if you want to talk more

Im shooting for the first week of April. I live in NH and havent quite planned exactly how Im getting to Springer, but things have always sort of worked out for me so who knows.

Im up for anything so if anyone has an extra space in the rental car or whatever the situation is feel free to PM me. If I end up with a free ride I'll post on WB if there are any extra seats as well.
