View Full Version : Anyone ever see '08 hiker Stardust?
Stardust was a nurse I believe living near Boston. Was hiking the trail NOBO with lots of yellow blazing. Not sure how much hiking was involved, but she seemed to be having a great time. If you met her you would remember her!!:)

I don't have much to say about Stardust. I only met her once, but GEEZ every word out of her mouth turned into some sob story about how it rained a little bit and her poncho got wet so she hitched for half an hour.
I'm sorry but I didn't feel bad.

One of the neatest people I met in 06 was KIWI who was unabashedly yellow-blue blazing his way NOBO on the AT form town bar to town bar. He hitched out at Newfound Gap and the next time I saw him was in Damascus. Cold beer is good.
He was funny as hell and having a great time! I couldn't care less what he was doing but admired his doing it his way. HYOH.

I saw a few of her entries near the end of the trail so I think she pieced things together all the way or close to all the way. I don't think I actually saw her after about central VA, but the last entry I remember was in Stratton at a restaurant, I think.

Yes, she's a good friend of mine. She started out around the same time I did, and I remember running into her off and on throughout Virginia. Then I didn't see her until I got to Pierce Pond, Maine, when I came around the corner and heard the very distinctive Brazilian accent I knew it was Stardust! We both signed up for the pancake breakfast nearby at the Harrison Camp, where together with the owner and his girlfriend the four of us shared one of the most memorable breakfasts of stories, good food, and conversation on the entire trail. She easily has the most fascinating tales of anyone I met on my hike, and will keep you in stitches. She has a knack for getting herself into interesting situations, for sure.
I know she finished, probably a week or so behind me. I know she yellow blazed some but who cares?? She was out there having a great time, and in spite of everyone saying she would never make it she made it all the way to Maine and the big K.

Amen, PR...it's always charming to see people complain about how other hikers complain.
Stardust was always chipper when I saw her...Honestly, anyone over 50 who finishes does so with the cards stacked against them. Remember that, Joe.
