Anyone who's ever used the A.T. Data Book in the last 25 years, or publications using this data (any of the thru-hiker guides--the A.T. Thru-Hikers' Companion, the Thru-Hikers' Handbook, Appalachian Pages, etc.) might enjoy reading about Dan Chazin, ATC's Volunteer of the Month for December, at www.appalachiantrail.org/volunteermonth (http://www.appalachiantrail.org/volunteermonth).

Thanx, Laurie, but calling Dan the volunteer of the month is a little bit silly.
Considering all he's done, and the total lack of recognition he's got in return for it, I'd consider Dan to be the A.T. voulunteer of the last quarter century.
I can't conceive of how much more dificult my travels over the years would've been without relying on Dan's work.
So let me take the opportunity to say "Thanks, Dan!!" People like me get to do what we do because of people like Dan Chazin.

Thanks Laurie, for bringing Dan's recognition by the ATC to everyone's attention!
Congrats - and THANKS - to Dan "DataBook" Chazin!!

Yeah, especially considering much of his work goes into all the AT guidebooks, not just the Databook.
