Mens Large Tall = 18.25 oz.
Mens Small = 16.5 oz.
My wife and I have been looking at these jackets for a while, but we were having a hard time finding weights for them. We finally got them cause they were on sale. Thought I would share the the weight with ya'll for future reference.
The jackets seem to be fairly high quality. Not the lightest material (more durable?) , but the they are in the range of weight we are looking for. Jackets have more loft than the patagonia down sweater, maybe the same or a little more than the marmot zeus.
$120 for the tall with 25% off holiday sale.
$112 for regular with 25% off holiday sale.
-800 fill down
-Microfleece lined collar and pockets
-zippered pocket
-zippered internal stash pocket with headphone port/hole
-cinches at waist

I wore it out to the grocery store last night, about a mile round trip. it was around 12 degrees 5 with wind. I just wore a mid-weight merino and a light cotton flannel with it. toasty warm, except for my face!
Hopefully ill get a chance to just sit outside one of these days. the temps have been in the teens and lower.
Good jacket for the price, these days I couldn't have afforded much more.
I think it will be perfect for the march start.

no hood
i'm actually going to look into this:
http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?categoryId=51588&storeId=1&catalogId=1&langId=-1&feat=51590-ppxs&dds=y
that price is pretty crazy for a hooded down jacket w/ 650 fill

That's a premium (but good) price for a good non-hiking down jacket. Issue is packability and weight. I've got a crazy-warm down puffy jacket that I would love to have with me at camp, I just can't get it there because its too big, packs down to the size of a sleeping bag and I can't afford that sort of bulk in my pack.
Don't know about the EB's mentioned above, they look OK, but you can find sales on real equipment for about the same, maybe even less. For instance, since you want a hood, I've seen the Marmot Aba Dablam (or something like that) on sale for $120. Seen Montbell Alpine for about the same.
Also, SAC had one a while ago for $69 (no hood).
i don't know why there's so many down jackets w/o a hood. if it's cold enough for puffy down then it's cold enough to need a hood :(

Frankly, I don't like a hood as I have a wool stocking cap and balaclava that I use that offers more flexibility when hiking. Sleeping bag has hood.
But now, I'm saying that because this is a hiking site and I'm offering my opinion as a hiker. For camping, or wearing around town, I mostly agree with you.

One of the items on sale is a 700-fill down jacket (no hood but nice high collar) called the Yukon Classic. $30 off for $69.99 for those on a budget.

I was looking at the yukon in a store. nice jacket. shell material was quite a bit heavier than your typical light weight hikers down jacket. maybe more durable and water resistant? I like that their jackets come in talls too. Those merino sweater are awesome as well.
