The funny thing about Ron is that doesn't really care where you stay in Franklin.....he'll still help you out. I've seen him pick hikers up in his bus at Winding Stair Gap, drop them off at a competitor's hotel, not ask the guy for a dime, and then, amazingly enough, I've seen him ask the hiker if he needs help running errands later, or a ride back to the Trail the next day.

Ron would anything for a hiker and it doesn't mater whether you stay with him or not.

But that being said, you'd be crazy not to.

As Jack said Ron will get you where you need to go. And there is a GREAT Mex restaurant right around the corner from the Sapphire Inn (http://www.thesapphireinn.com/). Get the shrimp plate. Ask Ron about it.

We did hike last year from Dicks Creek Gap Ga to Franklin Nc. We stayed at Ron Havens motel the night before, and the next morning he drove us to Dicks Creek. Five days later he picked us up at Franklin. Ron let us park are truck at his motel. Ron Haven is a great guy and a real asset to the hiking community. Andy Egan Satellite Beach Fl.

I actually liked the Budget better than the Sapphire but it may have been the company.
