Iv been doing a little research and shopping around for my first pack. I'v noticed that there is not much talk about north face pack on WB, i was wondering if there is a reason for that.
The TNF Crestone is awfully heavy. (6lbs?) And really hot. I carried one for a couple of trips, and then bought a pack half the weight.
The good things about it: quality material, lots of room for adjustment.
I think you can do a LOT better for the money. Everyone has different suggestions, just find the one that fits you best.

alright, the weight issue seems to be what everybody complains about through the reviews
are there any lighter packs that you could suggest that are a similar price range? ($200 or under)

Lots of thru hikers like ULA packs. I like Gossamer Gear, light and inexpensive but they're not very durable, I wouldn't trust a baggage handler with it. When I was your age, I'd go to the Army/Navy surplus for deals.
If you're planning for a trip, you should get your other gear together first, and get the pack last. If this is your first pack, you should consider first what you're going to be carrying in it and what kind of trips you'll be going on. What kind of load, how much food and water? Overseas travel with lots of planes and trains? An AT thru hike? Desert hiking with cactus and barbed wire? Packs vary from the 7 lb monsters to 9 oz gossamer bags. A few long distance hikers use an old school book bag that costs basically nothing, or make their own.
i have one of those in the cool red/grey colors i have only used it since last year for weekend outings but it seems fine to me
